A lot of our girls (and guys) struggle with love. The word and the actions that are associated with the word. Whether it has been misused in the past orthey arrived at the worldly conclusions themselves by nature of being human, they (we) have gotten things mixed up. So on this post-valentine's day, I'd like to take a minute to talk about what real love, Godly love, looks like.

read more »Recently I have been reading through the New Testament and the story of the persistent widow stuck out to me. It comes from Luke 18 and the thing that stuck out to me most was the very end of the story. In the Message version it says, "So what makes you think that God won't step in and work justice for His chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won't He stick up for them? I assure you that He will. He will not drag His feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the son of man find on the earth when He returns?"
read more »Since I have been here, one girl in particular has stuck out to me. I have tried to intentionally spend time with her and her family and what I have seen is amazing. When we first started going to eat lunch at her school, she ignored us but everyday inched closer and closer to our table. Next thing I knew, she was signing up for our afterschool program. We had the privilege of taking her to church with us. I sat next to her and I could tell that something was churning up inside of her the whole time that the pastor spoke about Paul and how he had to put his past behind him.

I’m a planner. When I went to college, I knew exactly what I wanted my major to be and was pretty confident in where that major would lead me post college. I was willing to do God’s will, but I also wanted it to fit within the parameters that I had already planned for my life. Over the past year and half, God has slowly broken down that wall that I had built up between us.
