Mission
The Mission of The Acts 2 Ministry is to evangelize, disciple and mentor urban youth and their families according to the model exemplified through the life of Jesus Christ.
The Vision of The Acts 2 Ministry is to daily reach into the homes and hearts of the city, pointing the way to the saving grace of Jesus and the power of the cross, in order to see urban youth and their families’ lives transformed by the word of God.
Though Roanoke is far smaller than a mega city like Chicago or Los Angeles, our urban areas suffer from many of the same problems. We deal with prostitution, drug abuse, alcoholism, child abuse and neglect, unemployment, and rape. We even the beginnings of a gang problem. Our inner city is crippled by crime and lack of education.
Acts 2 is an urban ministry dedicated to the cause of Christ and reaching into the homes and hearts of the inner city of Roanoke. Our work lies in creating a community of believers that transcends all racial and socio-economic barriers. We seek to do this by providing hope for the lost and hurting through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. By continuously being His “hands and feet. We pray that God will heal the deep wounds that lead to cycles of poverty, drugs, neglect and hate which are so prevalent in our neighborhoods. We believe that the only solution to these problems is Jesus Christ. He is our only hope and it is our purpose to help people meet Him. We do this through small group discipleship based on the model left by Jesus himself. Through these methods God is working significantly in the hearts of many people in the city and our pray is that this is only the beginning.
